Ecotherapy
Nature as Healer
Time spent in natural settings, whether deep in the wilderness or just underneath a tree at your local park, has been shown to greatly improve both physical and mental health. Together we can help maximize this effect through mindful immersion in nature.
Nature as Teacher
When we take the time to slow down, observe, and learn from the inner and outer wilderness, we can find there are many lessons about the world, the ecosystems we move through, and our place here on Earth.
Nature as Mirror
The experiences and expressions found when we engage with the more-than-human world can reveal deep truths about ourselves. Let’s enter a dialogue with the landscape, the elements, and the plant and animal beings to see what insight is reflected back.
How it works…
I offer outdoor ecotherapy sessions in the context of on-going psychotherapy. After a few initial sessions to get to know each other, build trust, and establish goals, we can begin meeting outdoors either regularly, or as needed. These meetings might be as simple as talk therapy in a walk-and-talk context, or we might use the setting more interactively, engaging the landscape and life around us in dialogue or asking its support in experiments in support of your growth and healing.
If this is something you would like to incorporate into our work, let me know! I am happy to answer questions and explore concerns at any time in our work together. All ecotherapy scheduling is done upon request.
